Motorcycle InsuranceWhat does it typically cover?
There are varying levels of coverage and protection when it comes to motorcycle insurance. The most common levels of cover are:
Comprehensive Insurance
This type of coverage provides the highest level of coverage for your motorcycle. This policy covers:
- Fire & theft
- Damage to your own motorcycle in accidents (regardless of fault).
- Damage to other vehicles or property
Your Insurance policy may also include roadside assistance or cover for loss and damage to motorcycling gear.
Third-Party Insurance
Third-party insurance is recommended as a minimum level of coverage for motorcycle insurance in New Zealand. This policy covers:
- Damage or (injury) caused to other people and their property by your motorcycle.
This policy does not cover any damage to your own motorcycle. This type of insurance is typically cheaper than comprehensive insurance but comes with less coverage.
Third-Party, Fire and Theft Insurance
This type of insurance provides the same coverage as third-party insurance but also includes coverage for theft of your motorcycle and damage caused by fire.
